No-exam life insurance

Eligibility for expedited underwriting, the process if you qualify, and what the path looks like if you don't.

Today's carriers frequently provide accelerated underwriting: for qualifying applicants (within age and coverage limits), underwriters use your application, prescription history, driving record, and other databases rather than ordering an exam. Decisions sometimes arrive within hours. Every quote here indicates exam status—required, conditional, or not needed.

What it changes

No-exam issuance does not skip underwriting review; your application is checked thoroughly, and policies based on false information are contestable for two years. If the carrier's records or third-party data prompt questions, they may still request testing—at which point you choose whether to proceed.

Who tends to qualify

Candidates are generally under age 60, applying for coverage within the carrier's no-exam threshold, with no serious medical history and no tobacco use for a year or longer. Carriers may accept recent lab work from a doctor's visit instead of ordering an exam.

If you need an exam, it's usually conducted at your home or office in the Watsonville area by a paramedical examiner for about 20 to 30 minutes, at no expense to you. For applicants in good health, exam results can sometimes lead to a better rate classification, so undergoing an exam isn't necessarily unfavorable.
